In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a cute rainbow effect in just a few steps!!
What we will be making:
Open a new file in swishmax
Go to the 'Guides' window and click both show and snap, with spacing of 10.
Select the 'Bezier' tool
Click somewhere in the bottom left corner, and go 6 blocks right and 6 blocks up. (hold it, don't double click)
Drag it to the right, until the end of the dotted line reaches the x-value of the bottom left starting point. (You can see this below, top-left)
Release your mouse button. Go to bottom right and click so that the circle is half complete.
Click again, one block to the left, and click/hold again, under the center point of the previous curve, like this:
Again drag it to the left, so that the end of the dotted line is above and equal to the x-value of the starting point on the right side (the left point of the right side)
Go to the 'Shapes' window and select a colour of your taste, no border.
Repeat the previous steps and draw another beam beneath the green one:
Add 2 more (I added one on top and one below) and group everything as Sprite
Open the sprite and select the shapes. go to the Transform panel and use the following settings:
Add a move effect in the timeline, and select the last frame:
Apply the following settings:
Repeat this for all 4 shapes
Now the shapes are upside down, and will move into the original position with the move effect. Now we want to see them appaear out of cloud 1, and end in cloud 2, so we need a mask. Therefore you need to select the 'Rectangle' tool and draw a shape where the rainbow will appear, like this:
Important! make sure the rectangle is placed under the 4 shapes, because we will use it as a mask. So in the outline panel, move it down 4 times.
Select the sprite and go to the panel for the following settings:
Voila, you're done!
You can put everything in a sprite, and enlarge it to suit your needs. As they are vector shapes, you wont experience quality loss

Thanks! Glad you like it. It's a little difficult to describe the drawing using the Bezier tool. If someone has questions I can always elaborate on it.
