Professional navigation menu

Learn how to create this professional navigation menu for your website using Adobe Photoshop.

1.- Open a new document File >> New.
Choose a color (I used #a2ddde) and pick the Rectangle Tool (B) . Clic on your document and draw a rectangle.

We're going to give it a bit of emboss. Go to Layer >> Layer style >> Blending options and choose the following settings:

2.- As we'll be using those settings a lot in this tutorial, we're going to define them as a style. In the Blending options window, choose New Style. Then, choose a name and clic 'ok'.

Our new style will appear in our Styles palette.

3.- Create a new layer Layer >> New >> Layer. Now, using the Rentangle marquee tool (M) and make a selection like this:

Fill the selection with the Paint Bucket tool (G) and color #09637d.

With this layer selected, go to the Styles palette and clic on the style we've just defined. This style will be applied to the selected layer.

4.- Make a new layer. Pick the Rectangle Marquee Tool again, and and select the top half of the button.

Fill the selection using again the Paint Bucket Tool in white #FFFFFF. Low the opacity of this layer to 28% to get the glossy effect.

5.- And that's all. You can add text using the Text Tool (T). And you can make more buttons duplicating the layers (Ctrl + J)

My result:

Feel free to ask any question. Comments and sugestions are always welcomed.
You'll be able to download the *.psd file from 13dots Downloads here.
