That a very nice tutorial, this is what I got:


But, I wasnt joining the vertex as you said, but when you make your text layer, I just duplicated it, put it below original text layer, set the saturation a bit lower to get darker color, selected the move tool and clicked down, then duplicated again and clicked left, and did it a few times. Thats just a little bonus to make it easier to accomplish, but otherwise, great tutorial!
