Here is what your making:

1) Open up a new photoshop document.
2) make a new layer, fill it fully with a black to white gradient, from left to right.
3) go Filter>Pixelate>Mosiac
Use the settings so there isn't to many bars... It will all be different depending on the size of your doucments... I used 65.
4) Duplicate the layer.
5) Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontaly
6) Make cuts in the duplicated layer. Make them horizontaly across the whole document. Make them about 10% of the doucment and make about 5, or what ever your comfortable with. Then Press Delete to delete the selections
7) Filter>Distort>Wave
Regular settings, Number of Generators: 1
8) Finnally change the Hue and Saturation of your layers to check your colors.
This can help you match color's up and see how they work with one another.
