Hey everybody, long time no see! shamed_bag.jpg I have another tutorial for you.

This is an easy(ish) tutorial, only because the ring itself is very easy, but how you apply it could be very advanced (i.e. Here)

So let's get started! And remember to post comments/questions if you are confused or you think that the tutorial could be better!

(Oh, I'm also assuming that you know the photoshop basics, i.e. the tools, how to make a new document... tongue.gif)

Imprortant things are bolded!

1) Make a new document, with a black background.

2) Select your Elliptical Marquee Tool. Draw a perfect circle by holding down Shift and Clicking and Dragging on the canvas.

3) Now, this step may be a little confusing.
- First, Hold down alt and click in the middle of the circular selection you created
- Then, drag a little bit from the center to make a little bit of a selection but DO NOT RELEASE THE MOUSE BUTTON. Let go of alt.
- Now, again press and hold alt and also press and hold shift. Now drag your inside circle. You will notice that it is dragging out from the center because you are holding alt, and it is a perfect circle because you ware holding shift.
- Finally, when you get around 3/4 of the way to the edge, let go.

4) Now you need to select the gradient tool and make your toolbar (at the top) look like this:

Then, click and drag from the middle of your circles to the outside edge. That should make many dots.

5) First, press Ctrl+D to deselect. Then, press Ctrl+T to use the Free Transform. Hold down control and drag one of the 8 points that now surround the ring. You should take note that the points on the sides will skew your image, and the corner points will change the perspective of your image. You will probably use the corner points more than the side ones for this tutorial.
So make your ring so it looks a little bit like this:

Now you're done! Go and add it to planets, of which there are tutorials for in this forum (I believe...).

To make it look like it is going behind the planet, just erase the part that looks like it should be behind it.

Sorry if this seems too simple, but I was trying to keep this as easy as possible for the very beginners to Photoshop, and I'm bored with the tutorials that are all just filters and all look the same.
