I'll explain to you how you can record what you do in photoshop.
This is really helpful if you want to create a button for example with specific styles(like shadow etc),instead of doing the same thing again and again. With a click of a button you can create the same button.

Ok here it goes:

Step 1: Open a new file in photoshop, enter your favorable dimensions(i like to create in a big empty space)

Step 2: On the right, there's a panel with two tabs(history and actions),click the actions tab.

Step 3: On the bottom of the action panel there are 6 little buttons (stop action, record action, play action, create new set, create new action, delete action)
check the image below

Step 4: Click the create new set then in the pop up window give a name for your new set and click ok. Then click the create new action button,on the pop up window give a name again(i named mine button),click record.

Step 5:
After you clicked record,it records anything you do from now on so be really careful of what you do.

Step 6: To save your action,go to the actions pallete again, click the little arrow button on the right-top,select save actions (see images below) and save the action.Afterwards if you want to load it,select load actions.

That's it!

Another idea:
When you create a template, you want some text(maybe the lorem ipsum) instead of a javascript generator that exist on the web,you can create an action of this kind.Whenever you need text it will create for you in few seconds smile.gif
And in many many other things.

I made a quick example,a simple button for you to see how it works smile.gif

Load the action and hit play action button.
