Basic Explanation:
Instead of using 100 layers and moving all the layers one by one you can merge them or put them into a set so reducing the time needed to make something.
You have found your way around the basic features in photoshop and your making things like menu's, buttons, logo's etc.....
But in this tutorial you will learn some methods for using your time and space within photoshop more efficient. This will be done by merging your object or by making sets.
For this tutorial I'll just made a menu..but this can be used on almost every thing you create in photoshop that uses multiple layers.
Ok let's start
1) I create one layer with a rectangle for my menu and copied the layer 5 times
Seen that before hey ??
2) By clicking CTRL+E you will merge your layers so creating one layer with all the objects in it.

3) After clicking CTRL+E for 5 times you will have this result

4) You think this is handy hey ? Well your right for 90% but now when you want to add text to your menu, and merge it to the same layer...

Well give it an dropshadow now you will see how mess this becomes
So this method works but not all the way..
Well now the second part of the tutorial..
5) Create a set ( you can compare this with a directory within your photoshop )

6) Give it the name you want to i changed it to Menu..

7) Now drag you layers onto the Set and let go this will result in putting the layer in the set

Well this tutorial looks kinda lame hey ??? Well you will see the usefullnes of this tutorial when your workin on a full website and have around 120 layers... you scrolling up and down searching for your layer... by using sets and merging similiar layers you will reduce the time you need for searching for the correct layer..
Set is also usefull for positioning your logo ( most of the time this will be more layers putting all logo layers in a set ) and just drag your set around now all the layers will move to the same place
Hope you guys found it useful.. i know i did when i first learned the use of sets
